WORKSHOPS AND DEMONSTRATIONS
I love working with other people by running workshops and sharing what we know.
I run clay and pottery painting workshops both at my own studio, as well as in education and social/ community settings. They can be one or two day taster sessions or a programme that is designed to run over several weeks.
I have experience in working with all ages - toddlers to adults. Additionally, I have experience in working with people with learning or behavioural difficulties, and also have run sessions with gifted and talented groups.
With so many educational establishments without kiln facilities, this is an ideal offering to provide pupils with a chance to experience the magic of clay and see their bare clay work transform to a solid irreversible state. It's a wonderful opportunity to link into so many parts of the curriculum, if that is the aim. It covers not only art and design, but also elements of maths and chemistry. It also lends itself to a wider context - research, planning and design, display and exhibition and importantly, collaborative work.
And it's also wonderful simply to just play.
Following that, I ran several countywide workshops, most recently for Fermynwoods Contemporary Art with teenage pupils from Northants Complementary Education Academy on their regular artists programme. In December I ran my first Teacher Training day on behalf of Fermynwoods Contemporary. In the past few years, I have also run workshops at Woollaston school with Year 8 and 9 as well as with GCSE and 'A' level students. At De La Pre school, I ran workshops with Year 5 and 6 pupils in support of the Darren Banks exhibition at Fishmarket, Northampton - part of the Flow project, nominated for best Lottery funded Olympiad Arts project.
I received mentoring on the Arts Practice course with ceramicist Sebastian Blackie, through Creative Northants with creative consutant and business advisor to artists Morag Ballantyne and through Northants County Artists in Education scheme with education specialist Emma Hollis.
I am always happy to discuss workshop or project opportunities. Please give me a call or drop me an email.
